(Banteay Meanchey): The Thai military imposed stricter controls at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint, barring its citizens from entering Cambodia for daily labor.

Banteay Meanchey Governor Oum Reatrey told Fresh News on Tuesday (Jun. 17) that while individuals with valid business or official documentation are still permitted to cross, only 39 people were allowed entry this morning. Thai nationals attempting to enter Cambodia solely for work were denied access.

Additional sources report that military commanders in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo Province have stepped up border surveillance and are preventing Thai citizens involved in gambling, casino, or entertainment-related activities in Poipet from leaving the country through local checkpoints.
